How do I suggest a project for the Foundation to fund? There are a few different ways you can get your ideas heard: Leave a comment on the Yellowjacket Nation Foundation Facebook page. Become a Foundation member and discuss your idea at member meetings. Email the Foundation Board of Directors at yellowjacketfoundation (at) gmail.com. If you have a specific cause in mind, and you'd like to make a donation to cover all or most of the expense of the project, email the foundation or call or text Sandra Winstead at 6O1-479-9731.

How does the Foundation decide how to spend money? The Foundation's Board of Directors works closely with Union Public School District faculty, staff, and administration to determine the district's biggest and most immediate needs.
-
Is the Foundation only for Union graduates?Absolutely not. While the Foundation was founded by a group made up primarily of Union graduates who wanted to give back to their alma mater, membership is open to all. We know Union Public School District is blessed to have strong parent, teacher, and community support. It is our hope that those who wants to invest in the lives of Union students will do so through the Foundation.
-
Is my donation tax-deductible?Yes, Union Public Schools Yellow Jacket Nation Foundation is a section 501(c)(3) charitable organization, so all donations made to the Foundation are deemed tax-deductible. No goods or services are provided in exchange for your contribution.

How is this foundation different from the existing PTO?PTO has been a great supporter of the district, and they will continue to fund smaller needs. The Foundation's goal is to reach a broader group of people through online giving and tax deductible donations, and thus have the ability to take on larger capital improvement projects, in addition to helping with smaller needs that can't be funded by PTO or that fall outside the scope of PTO's giving. It isn't meant to replace or infringe on what PTO continues to do; instead, both organizations will work to support the district's needs.
-
How is the Foundation affiliated with the school district? This foundation is not a part of UPSD. Our goals are to support the district, but the district is not dependent on that financial support. We simply believe in public education, and in the power and uniqueness of the education provided by Union Public School District, and we want to do our part to invest in and support the district.
